The electorate of Inala is located roughly 15 kilometres south-west of the city, extending westwards from Inala through Richlands to the outskirts of Ipswich City at Camira. Inala was created at the 1992 election, largely replacing the abolished Labor seat of Wolston. The inaugural member was Henry Palaszczuk, who had been member for Archerfield (since superseded by Algester) since 1984. He was succeeded on his retirement at the 2006 election by his daughter Annastacia, who swiftly rose to a parliamentary secretary position after Indooroopilly MP Ronan Lee quit the party in November 2008. Palaszczuk is a member of the Labor Forum faction, and is widely regarded as a certainty for a future berth on the front-bench.
