Bundamba covers the outer eastern suburbs of Ipswich, from Dinmore east along the Ipswich Motorway to Goodna and south to Redback Plains and Springfield Lakes. The redistribution has moved part of Bundamba itself to Ipswich and small areas in the east to Inala, at a cost of about 2000 voters in each case. Bundamba is possibly the worst seat in the state for the Coalition: their 22.0 per cent primary vote in 2006 was their best result since 1995, and they did not even bother to field a candidate when the seat was created in 1992. Jo-Ann Miller of the Left faction has held the seat since the mid-term departure of Bob Gibbs in 2000. She was promoted to a parliamentary secretary position in 2001 but quit after the 2006 election, saying she wished to devote more energy to the electorate.
