THE POLL BLUDGER WATERFORD
Waterford has been held comfortably for Labor since its creation in 1992 by Tom Barton, who is now retiring. The closest result in that time was in 1998 when One Nation outpolled the Liberals 29.2 per cent to 24.5 per cent, scoring 44.8 per cent after preferences. One Nation again came second in 2001, but the two-party margin blew out to 18.0 per cent. Labor's new candidate is Evan Moorhead (left), a research officer for the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union. Liberal candidate Tracey Elson (right), daughter-in-law and part-time electorate officer of federal Forde MP Kay Elson. ASSESSMENT: Labor retain | |
