THE POLL BLUDGER ALGESTER
Algester was created at the 2001 election in place of Archerfield, which had been a safe Labor seat since its creation in 1972. Karen Struthers was elected to Archerfield in 1998 and added 12.5 per cent to the notional two-party margin in Algester in 2001. This was partly assisted by no-shows from One Nation and the Greens; their return to the field in 2004 cut 5.8 per cent from the Labor primary vote and contributed to a 4.6 per cent two-party swing to the Liberals. | |
